Don't be scared if someone doesn't look like you. They're probably awesome people. Don't be scared of piercings or tattoos. Be friendly and real and you shouldn't have a problem.

General college is easy to get into. Engineering, Medicine, Arts, and Life Sciences are definitely harder to get into. Honors Program and Scholarship advice--apply early. For most, VCU is a safety, but that doesn't mean it is a easy school. If you don't know, VCU president Dr.Trani has instituted a campaign that is bringing VCU up both academically and aesthetically at a considerably swift rate. VCU already has some of the best national rankings and is gaining accolades as an institution.

As stated before VCU has grown a lot. When I attended, I don't think they were turning anyone away. Their standards have gone up in the last 8 years. But I imagine it still isn't very competitive to get in.

To tell you the truth, I just applied to VCU and the Engineering school found me. At the time, the School of Engineering was just starting out and they were desperately courting students who were planning on attending V-Tech or UVA for engineering. I don't know if it’s the same way now, but if you have a decent head on your shoulders and you look like you're serious about Engineering you may be eligible for a scholarship. Basically, if you had the grades and SAT score that were good enough to get you into the full blown engineering department at V-Tech or UVA, then you may very well be eligible for a full ride at VCU's School of Engineering. Now that the school has gotten more press and their admission rate is higher, I don't know if that rule of thumb still stands, but its definitely worth looking into if you’re serious Engineering.

Also worth mentioning, if you’re an honor student while declared as a Pre-Med student, you can enroll into the guaranteed admission program with MCV. A lot of students pass up on going to UVA and more reputable undergraduate Pre-Med programs, since they are more then likely planning on applying to MCV for Med School anyways. Hope this was helpful.

Basically NOTHING, i had 3.6 from community college. I never gave SAT, and forget about the other stuffs, some international certificates that was it. Bascially this is the last choice of students, if they can't go anywhere than they come here. Hence, speaks the attitude of people too.

I did practically nothing to get into the university. I just filled out the application, sent my transcript and that was it. Don't let this fool you! A lot of people do poorly at first, especially in my department. VCU is really trying to advance...don't take it as a joke.
